Loes van Heugten
Loes joined the Plan International EU Office as a Partnership Assistant in February 2022. Supporting the rest of the Partnership team, her role focuses on monitoring and circulating funding opportunities, developing guidance, assisting with the continuous improvement of internal processes, as well as managing relevant databases, such as the DG INTPA Grants database.
Loes holds a MSc in Public Policy and Human Development from United Nations University and Maastricht University. As part of her master’s, she specialised in Migration Studies, a topic which she has always felt close to. Her passion for equality and justice grew further during her time studying in South Africa and later working for the Dutch Council for Refugees and AIESEC. Loes wrote her master’s thesis on migrants’ experiences of ‘sextortion’, a gendered form of corruption, during their journeys to Europe. After graduating, she continued researching this field and taught classes on qualitative research as a Research- and Educational Assistant for UNU-MERIT. Moving from Maastricht to Brussels, Loes is most excited about the diversity of the city. She hopes to soon explore all it has to offer and is eager to pick up the French language.
