Anne Marie joined the team of the EU Office of Plan International in April 2021. She is no stranger to the work as she has over 20 years’ experience within the international development and humanitarian sectors. She has a Master’s degree in Rural Development from University College Cork, with research carried out with the Zimbabwe Women’s Resource Centre and Network, a Diploma in Humanitarian Action from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and has just completed a short course on High Impact Leadership with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
She started her career in Senegal, spending over five years with national NGOs, then over a decade and a half based in Ireland, supporting development programmes and humanitarian responses in a range of countries in Africa and Asia, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Timor Leste, DRC, Nigeria and Cameroon, including as Emergency Programme Manager with Plan Ireland for three years. During this time, she served as the chair of the NODRM group, chaired the Irish NGO humanitarian working group, represented Plan Ireland on the Irish Consortium on GBV, and also participated in the real time reviews of emergency responses in South Sudan and Burkina Faso.
Her most recent role was as Plan International’s Lake Chad Programme Manager, based in Nigeria, where among other achievements, she has led the process to revise the Lake Chad Programme Strategy.
