Deputy Programme Unit Manager - Nyaung U

Plan International is an international humanitarian, Child-Centred Community development Organization, implementing programmes that promote the realization and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty. Plan International is now seeking for the position of Deputy Programme Unit Manager based in Nyaung U, Mandalay Region. This position may be required to travel Yangon and Mandalay if necessary and regular field visiting for monitoring purpose.

Reports to: Programme Unit Manager
Assignment Duration: Three years

Job Purpose: To manage the team of Community Development Facilitators, ensuring quality, efficiency and effectiveness of activities on the ground in target villages. He/she will work closely on the day-to-day basis with the team of CDFs and Child Development team, local authorities, community volunteers, VDCs, LNGO partners and Plan International staff. This includes quarterly planning of work activities with the team, and monthly planning and monitoring with individual staff.

Additionally, the role requires coordinating multiple projects in the same target locations not only Plan International staff but also other organization, networking and representing Plan International with local authorities and community leaders and VDCs, and ensuring correct implementation of Child Development activities and other related project activities in the field level. He/she should also support CDFs in their personal development and facilitate capacity building activities.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Citizen of Myanmar • bachelors degree of equivalent in social/community development and other related fields • At least three years working experience in community development field and deal directly with community and local authorities • At least 2 year experience in managing people and staff supervision • Experience in managing development projects at the community • Strong knowledge of community development and governance • Good knowledge about PRA tools and Community Development Planning • Good English language skills, both oral and written preferable • Ability to coordinate with people at different levels • Ability to travel if needed and able to work independently and seek help when necessary • Experience working with children an advantage.
