Emergencies in China

Equipping children and young people for disasters and ensuring they remain protected.

Plan International China works with children, communities and partner organisations on child-centred disaster risk reduction. This involves keeping children at the centre of our humanitarian relief, protection, education and psychosocial care responses during the relief and recovery phases of a disaster.

We carry out work in partnership with schools and communities to ensure that effective disaster preparedness measures are in place. We conduct awareness raising sessions that enable children and adults to learn about hazard, vulnerability and capacity analysis. So far, 26,477 children, including 13,241 girls in 95 schools (74 primary schools and 21 secondary schools), have benefited from our Safe Schools Project.
