Child protection in Cameroon

Ensuring children enjoy the right to protection from all forms of abuse and violence

Plan International Cameroon is committed to child protection and gender equality, and continues its efforts to ensure boys and girls fulfil their rights to protection from all forms of abuse and violence including in emergency situations.

We enable communities to strengthen their child protection mechanisms, and form strong partnerships between our skilled staff and government and other NGOs, supporting council child-centred disaster risk reduction and management plans.

Our Safe Childhood Programme actively works to strengthen child protection mechanisms in communities, and our staff connect communities with the resources to promote child and youth participation in claiming and defending their rights and to monitor reported cases of child abuse. We are also providing psychosocial assistance to child victims of abuse, including orphans, and we continue to support the development and implementation of council and community-based child centred disaster risk reduction and management plans, creating lasting change in communities.
