Calling all young leaders: Exciting chance to shape governance and decision-making at Plan International

Are you a passionate and committed young leader who would like to contribute to improving Plan International’s governance and internal decision making? Here is an extremely exciting opportunity for you!

The Global Youth Reference group are looking for two passionate and committed leaders aged between 18-24 who have experience with Plan International’s work to join the first ever youth delegation to the Members’ Assembly with voting rights.

1. The role

This is a senior voluntary position lasting for two years which is perfect for young people who are passionate about improving Plan International’s decision making at the highest level. As part of the first youth delegation to the Members’ Assembly with full voting rights, you will support Plan International’s internal decision making at the highest level by:

  • Using your unique experiences and insights to contribute to and improve discussions and decision making by the Members’ Assembly.  
  • Using your knowledge of working with Plan International to help identify challenges and unintended consequences of policy and budget decisions being made by the Members’ Assembly and ways to improve how Plan International works with and for young people. 
  • Promoting the rights and interests of young people at the Members’ Assembly and in the organisation.  
  • Coordinating with other young leaders representing different backgrounds, identities and perspectives.  
  • Planning and delivering workshops with the Members’ Assembly to raise awareness of the importance of youth centredness and bring their attention to issues that matter to young people.  

2. The selection criteria

We are looking for young delegates who are:

  • Young leaders between the ages of 18 and 24 including those who have led, or are active members of youth-led organisations, groups, movements, networks or coalitions.  
  • Aged under 25 for the duration of their two-year terms. 
  • Have lived in a Country where Plan International has a Country Office and have experience of Plan International’s work either by participating in our programmes, as members of youth advisory panels, as young people from sponsored families, or from having partnered with Plan through their youth-led organisation.  
  • Have a strong connection with their national youth constituencies and can represent the voices of diverse categories of youth.  
  • Can commit to the time requirements outlined in the role description.

As we try to ensure that the delegates of this Members’ Assembly are as diverse as possible, we also encourage applicants with disabilities, and people from all cultures, ethnicities, and countries (wherever in the world you live).

Please note that we cannot accept applications from young people who are employees of Plan International, Inc. or any of its member National Organisations.

3. Further details

You will not be paid for being a delegate, but Plan International will cover all travel, accommodation, and other logistical costs associated with your role.
