One of our key priorities in Brazil is helping young men and women, as well as adult women, improve their chances of finding employment or becoming self-employment. So far, 1000 adult women and 1000 young men and women people have worked with us to improve their basic knowledge of administration and accountancy, finance, business enterprise and domestic financial management. This has included improving their professional skills to join or re-join the job market. For instance, two groups in rural communities in São Luís have learned to produce sustainable handcrafts from native banana trees which grow abundantly in their area.
We also enable young people to join workshops on rights, participation and gender-equality, which helps them become more aware of their rights and empowers them to discuss their community's needs and initiatives.
