Plan International Dominican Republic launched TUI Academy along with TUI Care Foundation and Plan International Netherlands, with the aim to provide youth with a future perspective in the tourism industry.
This project seeks to empower adolescents and youth, specially girls and young women and encourage them to speak for themselves and take their own decisions about their futures. Through the economic empowerment of the youth, the TUI Academy will offer an alternative professional career.
Through TUI Academy, 150 young people (17-24 years old, 70% women) from three communities in Punta Cana will social and economic empower and will have access to decent work by the end of 2019.
During the launch of the project, an internship certificate was deliver for the next graduates with an accreditation of three-month internship and a job guarantee for six months in Blue Diamond Resorts in Punta Cana.
On Thursday November 16th, Representatives of Plan International Dominican Republic, TUI Care Foundation and Plan International Netherlands joined 10 dutch and german journalists to meet the reality of the youth in Mata Mosquitos and Playwood communities, who performed a demonstration of the life abilities workshop and cook assistant class by TUI Academy.
