Plan's UN Liaison and Advocacy Office in Geneva

The United Nations Office in Geneva

The Geneva Office carries out advocacy work to change laws, policies and practices at the global level. We use our extensive experience on the ground and position as an authoritative, global voice to influence those with power and responsibility in order to secure the rights of children. We do so by working with and advocating to governments, the United Nations bodies, and other organisations based in Geneva.  We are also engaging in various UN human rights mechanisms such as the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council and the Committee on the Rights of the Child, which are powerful tools to improve children’s daily realities.

Plan’s work in Geneva covers three core areas, all of which are rooted in the rights of the child: child protection, child participation and non-discrimination, equality and inclusion.

The Geneva Office conducts its works in close collaboration with many non-governmental organisations and institutions located in Geneva.

Plan holds consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
