Programme highlights

Community health

In order to improve healthcare services and increase the knowledge of local people, Plan Vietnam works with the community regarding child healthcare issues including nutrition; water and environmental sanitation; capacity building on safe motherhood and communications skills for health workers.

Plan Vietnam also works with the community to provide necessary medical quipment and new constructions for medical centres. Furthermore, we support information sessions on healthcare for teachers and parents.

Early childhood care and development (ECCD)

Plan Vietnam helps raise parents' awareness of the importance of integrated early child-care and children's rights and has provided training for teachers on child injury prevention, rights of the child, nutrition and ECCD. Also, equipment provision and preschool construction in most communes under Plan Vietnam's support has upgraded school facilities and increased the number of children going to schools.

Quality basic education

As part of the quality basic education programme, Plan Vietnam has supported libraries at schools with various textbooks. New schools have been constructed or upgraded. A scholarship system has also been established, with a focus on enabling girls to continue their education and prevent children from dropping out of school.

Sustainable livelihoods

Plan Vietnam helps with agricultural extension services and the upgrading of water systems. We work closely with the community to develop training for core farmers.

Child protection

Plan Vietnam has supported communities to establish children's groups which provide a safe place for children to discuss issues. The groups also help increase child participation with organised special events in their communities as well as educating the children on their rights.

Young Media Clubs' activities enable children to speak out. We are also working to raise awareness concerning the prevention of physical and emotional punishment and child injury prevention with a focus on drowning and traffic accidents.
