Children's health
Plan supports training in obstetrics, safe motherhood skills, and teaches techniques on caring for sick children.
We have improved the infrastructure of commune health centres and constructed a paediatric-obstetric department at Cam Khe district health centre.
We support communities to organise communication campaigns to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS and minimise transmission. Plan is also targeting malnutrition issues for children under 5 by teaching adults proper childcare and nutrition practices at home.

Early childhood care and development
Plan is working with communities to conduct training and communication campaigns on early childhood care and development, focusing on nutrition. We help parents and pre-school teachers learn how to prepare nutritious meals using local ingredients for children under the age of 6.
We have also constructed and upgraded pre-schools and provided learning equipment and toys. We have trained parents and teachers in creating educational toys from local materials, to decorate pre-schools in a child-friendly way, and to apply child-friendly teaching methods.
Quality education
Plan is working to ensure that schools are more child-friendly and have access to safe water and sanitation systems. We are also supporting children to actively advocate for the importance of education.
We have trained teachers on positive teaching methods, life skills and applying technology in school and also provide textbooks and establish school libraries.
Sustainable livelihoods
Plan is working to secure more sustainable livelihoods through the construction or upgrading of ditches, dam, channels and pump stations. We work closely with the communes to support the setup of agricultural extension clubs and run training courses on integrated pest management and setting up new models for cultivating produce.
Child protection
To raise awareness on child rights and child protection Plan has supported training courses and communication events. We have set up young media clubs at schools to support children in organising communication campaigns such as children’s forums on physical and emotional punishment and Learn Without Fear – Plan’s campaign to end school violence.
The clubs’ members write articles about children’s issues and share with parents, teachers and other adults.
