Country Director, Terence McCaughan

Terence has worked in rural development in Africa, Latin America and Asia for almost 30 years, starting as a teacher in a community self-help school in rural Kenya. Since then he has lived and worked in Sudan, Mali, Malawi, Senegal, Papua New Guinea, Bolivia, Thailand and Laos. He has also completed post-disaster assignments in Sierra Leone, Pakistan and Indonesia and short-term assignments in many other countries in Asia and Africa. 

Terence has worked with a number of different international development organisations and joined Plan in 1991. He assumed the role of Country Director for Plan Laos in 2006. 

“One of the real pleasures of being in Laos is working with such great people,” says Terence. “The Plan team here work really hard, but there is always time for friendship and laughter.”
