Supriyanto has devoted most of his professional career to working at Plan.  His education background in society and culture (under-graduate and graduate degrees) and his previous work experience as a researcher at the Center for Rural Study and a university lecturer, demonstrate his high interest in human development.

Supriyanto joined Plan in 1990, the year the Convention on the Rights of the Child was ratified and was inspired to focus his attention on children’s development.  He was indeed struck with the profound challenges facing children during his assignments in Asia, East Africa, and West Africa. As a leader, he is always doing his best to ensure that children’s rights and needs are protected.

During his time at Plan, Supriyanto has admired that despite the high illiteracy rate, children are often able to articulate their problems better than adults, and are determined to participate in development work that affects their lives.  He is also amazed by the dynamic culture and the hospitality of the people in Cambodia. During a career that has seen him travel the world, he has learned several foreign languages, namely Dutch, English, and French.
