Strategy
Plan’s strategy in Ecuador addresses the fundamental obstacles to children’s development and the fulfillment of their rights.
Key goals
Plan works to:
- strengthen the role of public bodies as guarantors of child rights
- encourage the participation of children and adolescents in issues that affect their lives by developing their abilities to recognise, exercise and demand their rights
- facilitate the coordination and meetings among guarantors, rights holders and parties jointly responsible for rights from community to national level.
Through this work Plan in Ecuador helps communities to influence cantonal, provincial and national authorities in the promotion of rights. Plan also advocates within public bodies, fostering the development and implementation of policies and public services that respect child and adolescent rights.
Fighting inequality
Our work directly supports over half a million people living in significant inequality. Plan does not have any political, government or religious affiliation.
The destination of more than US$13,000,000 disbursed annually by the organisation for social investment is decided jointly with communities and the State.
Plan contributes to the implementation of the national plan for ‘buen vivir’ or ‘the good way of living’, which is enshrined in the new Ecuadorian constitution to support the exercise of rights and responsibilities, underscoring development and mutual support.
