Who's who

Country Director, Tim Budge
Tim Budge - 180

Tim Budge, Plan Zambia's country director.

Tim started working with Plan in Australia in 2005, and finds its programme approach of focusing on involving children in their own development an exciting way to generate change and create a better world.

He began his career as a teacher many years ago following studies in applied mathematics and a master’s degree in entrepreneurship and innovation.  He learned a great deal about problem solving, systems and scientific process, organisational change and social entrepreneurship.

These all served him well when he moved into community development and international development. He has a long history in different aspects of these fields, including training, programme design, monitoring and evaluation, emergency work and organisation management.

In 2006 Tim led Plan’s emergency response in Timor-Leste, when there was civil unrest.  Over 150,000 people were displaced because of local conflict and uncertainty.  At the time, Plan was one of the first international non-governmental organisations to get involved by providing basic central services to the internally displaced people’s camps that sprung up. Plan stayed involved in these camps until their closure.
