Country Director, Subhadra Belbase
Subhadra Belbase, Plan Uganda's Country Director.
Subhadra Belbase joined Plan Uganda as country director in June 2008, and provides leadership to over 200 staff in the country. Subhadra has a proven track record of leading multicultural teams, getting the best out of people, and training individuals and teams.
Previously, Subhadra spent 7 years working as the executive director of World View Nepal, and prior to that she was the first woman from a developing country to serve as a regional director in Plan. As the director of Plan’s east and southern Africa region Subhadra was responsible for the performance of 11 countries.
Subhadra has also been the country director of Plan Bangladesh and Plan Egypt.
A journalist by background, Subhadra holds a master’s degree in journalism (mass communication) from Southern Illinois University in the USA, and has worked for the Nepali newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’. Subhadra’s academic journals and articles on special topics have been published in various countries, and despite her busy schedule, she still continues to practice as a journalist.
