Programme highlights
Children’s health

To improve the health of children and families Plan focuses on child survival; control of infectious diseases; safe motherhood; family planning; immunisation; HIV and AIDS awareness and management of health information systems.

Health workers and community volunteers are trained in education materials and health units are constructed and supported with medical equipment, furniture and drugs.

Learning for life

Plan addresses the issues of low school enrolment and children dropping out, especially girls. Our programme improves the learning environment in pre and basic schools through the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, child friendly seating, school gardening, provision of safe drinking water and latrines and capacity building of teachers, parents and education authorities.

Household economic security

In collaboration with the government, Plan builds the capacities of farmers on modern agricultural techniques to increase crop production. Women are supported with business skills development to enhance their employability.

Child protection and participation

Plan works with the Council for Child Welfare (CCW) both at the national and state level to increase children’s and families’ awareness on child rights.

Plan supports communities in the formation and capacity building of child and youth groups to advocate on issues affecting their rights.

Plan has initiated major campaigns on Learn Without Fear, Universal Birth Registration, education for all; the eradication of harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation, and early child marriage.
