Programme highlights
Children’s and mothers’ health
Plan focuses on various health interventions to improve the health of children and families. These include community-based integrated management of childhood illnesses, reproductive health, malaria control, nutrition and environmental sanitation.
Safe environment for children
Plan gives special attention to changing people’s behaviour through hygiene education, and children and youth are actively involved in campaigns to promote a safe environment.
Plan supports communities to have access to safe drinking water through our Community-Led Total Sanitation initiative, which educates people about the importance of sanitation and helps them to construct and maintain their own latrines.
Learning for life
Plan has successfully created child-friendly environments in schools and has also promoted adult education by empowering the community to work towards education for all.
Various advocacy campaigns are carried out on child rights and protection, as well as Plan’s campaigns for Universal Birth Registration and Learn Without Fear.
Household economic security
To improve farmers’ agricultural production and household income, Plan trains them in new techniques and fishermen are supported through a market development approach.
Plan has also introduced the use of improved energy saving stoves and helped farmers to open ‘fire lines’ which act as a break against spreading wild fire to protect natural pasture.
