Programme highlights
Working together for children’s health

Plan runs various projects to enhance health, especially for children aged under 5. These include child survival, integrated management of childhood illnesses, control of infectious diseases (malaria, tuberculosis and bilharzias), safe motherhood and family planning, immunisation and HIV and AIDS awareness.

We also work to build the capacity of health carers and volunteers at the community level.

A safe environment for children

Plan works with communities and local government to increase families’ accessibility to safe drinking water and improve personal hygiene and environmental sanitation.

Recently Plan initiated a Community-Led Total Sanitation approach in the area, which educates communities about the importance of sanitation and helps them to construct and maintain their own latrines.

Child quality learning for life

Plan works to create a child-friendly learning environment to increase the percentage of children enrolled in school and improve retention.

Enhancing pupils’ performance and involving parents in school management are part of Plan’s school improvement programme.  In addition, adult education, pre-school and early child care and development are carried out.

Sustainable household economic security

In collaboration with the government, Plan upgrades irrigation schemes and builds farmers’ capacities on modern agricultural methods and techniques. This increases crop production and subsequently the overall family income.

Child protection and participation

Plan raises awareness on child rights, child protection and child participation in decisions that affect their lives.

Children and young people are supported to advocate about their rights through various advocacy campaigns:
