Plan believes that gender equality is central to achieving its vision for change: a world in which all children, both girls and boys, realize their full potential in societies that respect people’s rights and dignity.
Since 1995, Plan has instituted various interventions to realise this goal, and as a result, Plan has a strong and well-established track record in advocating and implementing a gender perspective in programming and in the organisation. It has conducted several gender audits in selected countries. The Global Gender Equality Policy aims to advance gender equality and girls’ empowerment as a recognised part of Plan’s reputation as a child-centered organisation.
The Gender Equality Self Assessment (GESA) process was designed to establish a baseline of the status of gender equality promotion within all RESA countries and to determine gender equality results that Plan wants to achieve and how to achieve them.
