Qualiubia is located at the head of Delta as it’s the meeting point for main transportation lines for all governorates due to its prime location. It is famous for its agricultural production. Plan started working in Qualiubia in December 2003, where people there faced some issues as prevalence of diseases especially among children, school dropouts, prevalence of agricultural garbage, lack of awareness and weak participation of children and women.

Program Highlights

Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR)

It Achieves equal opportunities, ensures social involvement and empowerment, increases mental and body capacities for children with disabilities to reach all the available opportunities in working areas.

Village Saving and Loans Associations (VSLA)

The program aims to provide available financial services easily and continuously for the poorest to fulfill their basic needs through forming VSLA groups. As of September 2011, there were 3,169 current members, and 6,596 total beneficiaries (graduated and current) and a value of savings of EGP 100,223.

Women Empowerment

To provide opportunity to women and females for empowerment, protection and abandoning harmful practices.

Child Protection

It’s presented in all forms of abuse through training group on child rights, conducting community consultations on child protection and quarterly and monthly meetings with protection committees to monitor and evaluate what was implemented regarding child protection at Kalioub and Shebeen and celebrating children events as Child Day.

Building Relations

The program aims to build good relations among children, their families and the existed structures in the community, among the sponsored children and their SPs through community participation.

Early Child Care and Development (ECCD)

The program aims to promote ECCD through programs implemented in partnership with concerned authorities through several activities implemented in Qualiubia.

Community Learning

Training local leaders on child rights, protection, advocacy, providing books for schools libraries and participation in preparing school magazines, trips and camps for children to encourage them on learning and providing them with opportunities to various skills and experiences.

Risks Management

Through 3 phases; before risk, through prevention procedures, during the risk, to lessen risk and dealing with it in good way and after the risk, through documenting the risk and learned lessons. It took place in cases as how to deal with as avian flu, H1N1, recycling for agriculture garbage and industrialization for milk products.

Children Organizations

To activate children organizations in the working villages to express themselves through several activities, in addition to a TV show called “Esma3oona” that is implemented to tackle child rights and problems and producing magazines that express their issues.
