September 2009: More than 450,000 people have been displaced by a tropical storm which hit the Philippines on 26 September.

Parts of Manila and Luzon have been flooded, killing around 240 people. This figure is expected to rise as the thick mud is cleared from the worst affected areas.

Plan's emergency response includes buying tools for cleaning and clearing operations so that schools can re-open; providing water and sanitation for children, and setting up child-friendly temporary learning spaces.
