Plan is working in partnership with ambassadors – including Freida Pinto and Mariane Pearl - to change the lives of girls and their families around the world
Freida Pinto
Actress Freida Pinto, star of Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), is Plan’s newest Because I am a Girl global ambassador.
"I have always been a true believer in the power of every individual, especially every girl," says Freida. "The treacherous web of barriers girls face worldwide is endless. But if we educate and empower girls, they will reach their fullest potential, pulling themselves and their families out of poverty."

Mariane Pearl
Mariane Pearl is a journalist, reporter and author, most known for her first book 'A Mighty Heart' - a memoir celebrating the values of humanism and dignity while offering a detailed account of the kidnapping and murder of her husband, The Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl, by a militant Islamic fundamentalist group in Pakistan.
Mariane contributes to many publications such as The New York Times, The Sunday Times, Condé Nast Traveler, Self Magazine and others.
She also works for broadcast media reporting and producing documentaries. She is currently writing her third book and working on a documentary on resilience.
Mariane recently interviewed members of Plan's girls delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
