After the quake: Plan's response in Haiti

31 March 2010: See how Plan's vital relief work has been helping Haiti's children since the devastating earthquake.

Plan has worked in Haiti for 37 years and was able to respond immediately when the earthquake hit on 12 January. Our teams have provided food and tents to thousands of people living in the camps, constructed child-friendly spaces where children can learn and play in safety, and provided psychosocial support to emotionally distressed children.

Plan's 'cash for work' schemes are helping hundreds of people to raise much-needed funds while taking part in rubble clearing and other operations to protect and rebuild their communities.

Plan believes that children and young people should have a say in the redevelopment of their country. In partnership with UNICEF, Plan led a consultation with 1,000 children to ensure that their voices are heard in the reconstruction process.
