23 November 2009: The importance of registering all children was highlighted by Plan UK Chief Executive Officer Marie Staunton on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Woman’s Hour’ show today.

Marie told the programme about how Plan has helped register 40,000,000 people over the last 4 years – giving them access to vital and life-improving services from education and health care to legal protection and the right to vote.

Essential document

She told the show how Plan and partners work with remote and fringe communities such as Indian street children and Cambodian orphans to provide them with birth certificates, and explained the barriers which prevent people signing up for this essential and empowering piece of documentation.
