International Young Campaigner Award

Girl campaigner

Plan-supported youth campaigners speaking out

24 June 2009: Plan is calling on young campaigners who have helped to improve the lives of girls in some of the least developed countries in the world to take part in the Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) International Young Campaigner Award.

This new award from SMK - a UK-based charity which offers development packages to grassroots campaigners and those new to the field - is being supported by Plan UK.

The competition is open to anyone aged 24 or under from 52 qualifying countries in the global south who has campaigned to achieve social, economic or environmental justice for girls and young women in their home countries.

Rewarding potential

The award is designed to reward young campaigners with the potential to make an even bigger impact in their countries. The winner will benefit from mentoring, coaching and guidance from experienced campaigners to help them achieve even greater results.
