Annual review

In 2011, Plan reached over 56,000,000 children in 58,000 communities across 50 countries.

We trained 527,284 people – 15% more than last year – in skills from education and child protection to disaster risk reduction and improved water and sanitation systems.

Our work with children to make them aware of their rights and strengthen their confidence and leadership skills lead to changes at local and national level, as young people made their voices heard.

In numbers

Child protection

In 2011, Plan provided child protection training for 110,972 community members and staff of partner organisations. In southern Africa, we trained police, border guards and the public to protect children from trafficking.

Education

Economic security

To help secure sustainable livelihoods for children's families, Plan trained 165,148 people in agricultural, vocational and business skills. We supported 2,119 microfinance organisations and 77,792 local savings and loans groups.
